Story of Notes From the Road
In 2023, the creator of Notes From the Road, Abbie, hit a point in her career where her mental and physical health were starting to really suffer and she made a scary but bold choice to step into the unknown and leave her career. She took a job at a local brewery and took stock of what was most important. Creative energy started to return and she would spend her days off exploring locally, meeting interesting people, and sharing her experiences with others.
Within a matter of months it all clicked that Abbie could turn her passions, knowledge, and stories into something to share with people who want to travel too.
After one day on the road Abbie mapped out the entire idea for the website, travel guides, and playlists within the time it took to drive home. As she sat down that night and recounted her ideas to her partner, Tressa, she explained that she wanted to include a log of her travels in a “notes from the road” section. Tressa asked if Abbie had come up with a name for the project yet, because “I think Notes From the Road should be it!” Now with a name in mind Abbie started working on this project to launch in 2024.
Meet the Creator: Abbie
Throughout Abbie’s entire career as an advisor, educator, career counselor, and advocate she has supported individuals in their pursuit of a better life. In this new chapter of her life she wants to continue that pursuit in a new format. She is a believer in the power of travel and the beauty of connection, and in the importance of making both of these accessible to everyone.
As soon as Abbie was old enough to drive and afford her first car from her diner job tips at 16 years old, she spent time on the road. Driving a bit further away in every direction while blasting music, until her family wanted her home, she started to see more of the world and crave it. In 2014, she took her first international trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand and there was no going back. Abbie caught the travel bug and even on her AmeriCorps stipend and small salary for years she would take every opportunity she could to adventure.
With Notes From the Road she is hoping to write about places and experiences that could become a chance for community, build upon your worldview, or develop a set of lasting memories.
